This live, web-based class provides the Geoexchange designer with hands-on experience using the industry leading Ground Loop Design (GLD) Software Suite to design efficient, cost-effective and optimised GSHP systems. This series will provide an understanding of how to use the GLD software from start to finish in the pre-modelling, design and optimisation steps for a range of closed loop and hybrid geoexchange systems. The class starts with the basics of importing loads into GLD from several industry-leading building energy simulation software tools (IES), Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, eQuest and continues on with loopfield design, extends to piping design optimisation for both purging and operations and concludes with lifecycle cost and CO2 modelling.
This course will provide students with a degree of mastery of the GLD program, enabling them both to take advantage of its powerful features and to provide clients with optimally designed geoexchange systems. In today’s energy constrained world, geoexchange systems are very attractive building energy efficiency solutions that offer a lifetime of energy cost savings to building owners, tenants and communities.
