The below was extracted from a recent bulletin produced by the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) and has been partially reproduced here to show the increasing interest in geoexchange systems in the US:
A recent conversation amongst IGSHPA staff floated the term “mainstream” to describe the status of ground source heat pumps in the HVAC world. Only ten years ago, geoexchange was thought of as an experimental, or novel technology and now it is one of the mainstream choices for heating and cooling a building or home.
IGSHPA now claims over 5,000 members and has added well over one thousand new accredited installers just this year. IGSHPA installers are installing thousands of geoexchange systems in homes, schools, universities, medical facilities, office buildings, etc. even in the present tough economy.
Building owners are now, more than ever, aware of the impact that comfortable, energy efficient buildings have on their bottom line and will seek out the best trained companies to install geoexchange in their facilities. IGSHPA’s challenge will be to stay ahead of the needs of the industry to ensure that our training and standards keep up with the demands for this “mainstream” technology!
As the leading training provider of IGSHPA certified installers in Australia, GeoExchange Australia understands the importance of properly certified personnel.
